Production Blog: At the Park
Counting Stars by OneRepublic
When I created by storyboard, I decided to film a few of my scenes in a park, so today I went to the park to film them. The first spot I went to was a huge old Banyan tree with lots and lots of vines hanging down from it. I had two scenes that I needed to film here. For the first one, I did a wide shot showing me with the tree in the background. For the second one, I chose to do a medium shot at a different spot in front of the tree. I filmed each of these scenes twice. In between filming each take, I reviewed each shot to make sure I liked it.
The next spot I went to was a big viewing tower that looks like a tree house. It has three different levels, but when I went up to the higher levels, it was hard to see me in the shot, so I decided to film from the lowest level. There were three different scenes to film at the tree house, but I made sure to move around a little so that each shot is a little different from the others. When I filmed the first scene, I did a wide shot, but I found that it was hard to really see me singing, so I decided to lean out a little and make bigger motions to make it look better. For the second scene, I tried standing up on the railings and that looked good. For the third scene, I actually moved up a little in the tree house, but I filmed it with a closer shot.
Finally, I had two scenes to shoot on a path. When I first lined up the shot, I noticed there was a building in the background, so I moved further up the path where I wouldn't see that. I wanted to walk in to the scene singing, but the first scene in this location was too short, so I decided to do that for the second scene. And then I tried a close up and a medium dutch shot for the shorter scene on the path to do something different. Before I left the park, I reviewed everything to make sure I had what I would need. I will need to film the scenes at my house this afternoon. Then I can start editing.
